Factional national chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff has been invited for questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
According to sources at the Commission’s office in Borno, Sheriff has been directed to report at the Maiduguri office of the EFCC.
Sheriff, who is a former Governor of Borno state, is expected to be questioned on the funds he allegedly collected ahead of the 2015 presidential election.
Already, many PDP chieftains are either being investigated or prosecuted in connection with the state funds diverted for political campaign.
It is believed that over $2 billion meant for arms purchase to tackle insurgency was diverted for political purposes by the former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), who is now being detained by the EFCC as investigation continues.
