About 50 ladies golfers and 150 men’s guest players have registered to participate in this year’s 18th IBB Ladies Close championship scheduled to tee-off on Friday, this week at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.
Speaking at a press briefing, Monday, at the club house, Abuja, the Lady Captain, Grace Ihonvbere said the winner will be the player who returns the best nett score over 36 holes of the 2-day tourney.
She said the 2017 edition will recognise and honour past champions as well as place their names on the clubs mural like other club tournaments which will be unveiled during the tournament.
Grace lhonvbere who was the last year’s champions, is optimistic that a new twist to this year’s edition is that the champion will go away with not only the trophy and prize, with additional goodies which include pampering at a spa.
The Chairperson, tournament organising committee, Anne Addeh said her members have put in place mechanism to ensure scores are collated at every three holes as well as posted on the score board immediately. She said this will enable spectators to follow the game and decipher who the leaders are.
Anne Addeh who is a former Lady Captain, announced that this edition will close with a “championship ball” on 21st of October, 2017.
Those who present at the briefing include the Vice Lady Captain, Mrs Acholonu, former lady Captain, Felia Edet, Mirabel Edozie, Christie Adejoh, Dr Olubunmi among others.
The 2-day championship kicks start on Friday by 7.00 in the morning with a ceremonial tee-off.
