Preparations are in top gear as the activities to mark Chief Mrs Grace Ihonvbere’s 60th birthday invitational tournament begin during the week at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.
Activities include Caddies tournament on Monday, Veterans, Super Veterans and Pros competition billed for Friday while Men’s Divisions 1 & 2 in Handicap zero to twenty and Ladies Divisions 1& 2 in Handicap Zero to twenty eight will battle for the coveted birthday trophy on Saturday.
Speaking in Abuja, the past Lady Captain of the prestigious IBB International Golf and Country Club, Chief Mrs Grace Ihonvbere said she decided to celebrate with her colleagues and friends in the Golf circle as her love for the game cannot be quantified.
” l started playing golf about 15 years ago. I have passion for it. Because of the numerous benefits of the game, i dedicate a lot of time, energy and resources to it. This is just my own way of promoting the game, building sporting relationships and showing appreciation for their goodwill and support over the years”, She said.
The wife of the Leader of the House of Representatives that represent Owan Federal Constituency of Edo State in the National Assembly, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere recalled her experiences in life but said she feels fulfilled in her journey to 60 years.
On the events lined up to celebrate her 60th anniversary, Chief Mrs Grace Ihonvbere said the course is ready to witness the battle of the champions that have registered to compete for various trophies and prizes.
” Many more players wanted to play, but we have to limit the numbers to just 200 due to our desire not to overcrowd the course. Honestly how I wish we could register more. But for those that will compete on Saturday, i wish them a good great day on the course. She concluded
Speaker, House of Representatives His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas,PhD is expected to perform the ceremonial tee off on Friday.
