An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, on Tuesday, remanded a 20-year-old man, Sanni Saidu, in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly robbing a pedestrian of his belongings at gunpoint.
The Magistrate, Mr M.A. Adegbaye, who refused to listen to the defendant ‘s plea for mercy, ordered his remand in the correctional centre till March 26, while awaiting an advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The defendant, an applicant, whose address was not stated, is being tried for conspiracy and armed robbery.
The Prosecutor, ASP Evelyn Ehieniua, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 23 at Railway, Agege, Lagos.

Ehieniua said that the defendant and others, still at large, while armed with locally-made guns, robbed one Mr Abolaji Sulaiman of a cash sum of N530,000.
“Other items taken from him were his mobile phone, valued at N75,000 and an MP Player, valued at N11,000, all totalling N616,000.00, ” she said.
The prosecutor told the court that the defendant was arrested with the help of passers-by while others escaped.
The offences, according to Ehieniua, contravene Sections 297 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. (NAN)
