Two men- Akinbode Tunde, and Adebogun Augustine, were on Tuesday brought before an Ota Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly defrauding one Oyewole Musbau of N3.4 million.
Tunde, 45, and Augustine, 60, of no fixed addresses, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and obtaining money under false pretences.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Sept. 5, 2016 at Singer area, Ota, Ogun.
Gbesi said that the defendants collected N3.4 million on the pretext of constructing a borehole for the complainant, Oyewole Musbau, which they failed to do, and did not refund the money.
.He said that the offences contravened Sections 421, 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Senior Magistrate, Mr G. E. Akan, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N700,000 with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case until June 7, for hearing.
