Kogi state Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers who often dressed in police uniform to rob unsuspecting people on the Okene-Auchi road.
The state acting Commissioner of Police, Austin Evbaklavbakun told newsmen the suspects- Ibrahim Aliyu and Yakubu Alfa, have been terrorizing travelers on that road for long.
According to him, items recovered from them were two AK 47 assault rifles with police inscriptions: NPF 21193, and NPF O6988.
Also, huge quantity of live ammunitions, police uniforms including mopol berets, cutlasses, criminal charms and some quantities of weed suspected to be Indian hemps were recovered.
Narrating how his men were able to nab the suspects, the acting CP said the suspects had opened fired on some people who were returning from mosque in the early hours of 14 September 2013.
The gun shot he said arose the curiosity of some policemen who were on patrol and who could not recognize any of the two. Consequently, the team disarmed and arrested the two suspects.
