Determined not to be fooled, members of Taraba House of Assembly have told ailing Governor Danbaba Suntai, in clear terms that he is not fit yet to resume and therefore, advised him to return to the hospital.
Addressing reporters in Jalingo on Thursday, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Haruna Tsokwa, said the lawmakers have advised him to go back to the United States to complete his rehabilitation programme.
Governor Suntai, it will be recalled returned to the country on Sunday from the United States after spending about nine months outside the country.
He sustained serious injuries in a plane crash last year and was flown to Germany for treatment from where he went to the US for rehabilitation.
On Wednesday morning, he announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council through his Media Aide, Sylvanus Giwa and directed the commissioners to handover to their respective permanent secretaries.
Also sent packing were the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and the Chief of Staff to the Governor.
But, the Acting Governor, Garba Umar, countered this when he called residents of the state not to reckon with the announcement dissolving the Cabinet.
The Speaker, Mr. Tsokwa, told journalists that the decision not to allow the Governor to resume was taken after the lawmakers visited him on Wednesday night, saying he was unfit to discharge the duties of his office.
However, he did not say whether the lawmakers were allowed by the Governor’s immediate family to meet and speak with him or not.
Human rights groups have called on the Governor to address a world press conference to prove that he is fit to continue to govern the state.
