Multiple award-winning artist, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid has shared insights into his musical influences and attributed his inspiration to women.
The afrobeats artist stated that women serve as a significant source of inspiration for his work in a now-deleted post on X.
He expressed, “Women inspire music! Gods on earth.” Wizkid is particularly noted for his romantic tracks, which are often dedicated to women.
His most recent album, ‘Morayo,’ is a tribute to his late mother, Morayo Jane Balogun.
This album has achieved remarkable success, breaking Tyla’s record for the highest number of first-week streams for an African album on Spotify, amassing 48 million streams within just six days. It has eclipsed Tyla’s former record of 46.4 million streams.
Additionally, ‘Morayo’ has established a new benchmark for the largest opening week for an African album on Spotify, with a total of 52.8 million streams.
