Former Super Eagles Assistant Coach and the new Boss of Abia Warriors FC, Imama Amakapabo has revealed that the personality and structure of the club put in place by the chairman Pastor Emeka Inyama informed his decision to accept the offer ahead of other clubs seeking for his services.
Amakapabo, who spoke in a telephone chat, disclosed that his desire to stay nearer home was another reason he opted for Umuahai based club.
“From Umuahai to Port Harcourt is less than two hours and there is need to be closer home this time considering that I am aging in grace.
“Secondly I have been away from home too long. I need to get close to my family and this is the time to give them proper attention.
“I will be a fool to say I don’t have a dream for the club. If I don’t have there would be no need for me to accept the job. My dream is to contest for the 2020/2021 NPFL title.
“Abia Worriors Football Club has a very sound structure on ground, the only thing I need now is to recruit capable and experience players for the team that will give me the required result at the end of the football season.
“I sincerely appeal for the support of every football stakeholders in the state to ensure that the desires and aspirations of the team is achieved by getting a continental ticket at the end of the season.
The former Home based and U-23 Head Coach who was unveiled in Umuahia on Wednesday said his interactions with the management of the club have shown that the team is ambitious and ready to match their words with actions.
Imama Amapakabo is the 8th Coach of the team in their seventh seasons in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
