Why I Called Mo Bimpe Unprofessional During Movie Project — Tolu Fagbure

Nollywood film critic and radio broadcaster Tolu Fagbure has recounted an experience he had with actress Mo Bimpe during a 2018 movie project, describing her conduct at the time as unprofessional.

Fagbure shared the experience while reflecting on his journey in the Nigerian film industry and interactions with practitioners over the years.

According to him, someone recommended Bimpe for a movie he was working on, prompting him to contact the actress and send her the script.

He said Bimpe did not respond to the script for about three days before eventually explaining that she was on a film location.

“When I reached out to her, she said she was sorry, was on a film location, and that I needed to lock down the script,” he said.

Prompt News reports Fagbure said he contacted her again but was told that she was still busy on another movie set. According to him, rather than reading the script herself, Bimpe asked him to explain the storyline to her.

The film critic said he was displeased by the request because the script had already been sent to the actress and he expected her to go through the material.

“That was unprofessional of her,” Fagbure said.

He also recalled questioning Bimpe about whether she was aware of his reputation within the industry during their conversation.

“I asked if she didn’t hear my name and I wasn’t one of their tacky film practitioners,” he said.

According to Fagbure, Bimpe eventually read the script following their conversation and later got back in touch with him.

Looking back at the incident years later, he suggested that the actress’ initial response may have been intentional or an attempt to impress.

“I guess it was deliberate, or she wanted to show off,” he said.

Fagbure further suggested that Bimpe, who is now married to actor Lateef Adedimeji and professionally known as Adebimpe Oyebade Adedimeji, may have matured since the incident.

“I believe she must have better sense now that she is Adebimpe Oyebade Adedimeji,” he said.

His comments have generated attention online as he continues to discuss professionalism and the conduct of practitioners within Nollywood.

Fagbure has also recently shared opinions about other actors in the industry. In May, he praised Bimbo Ademoye’s acting ability while expressing concerns about what he described as indiscipline within Nollywood.

He also recently criticised actress Eniola Ajao’s acting, leading to a public response from the actress.

As of the time of writing, Bimpe has not publicly responded to Fagbure’s latest comments.
