The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Adebowale Williams, says police and other security agencies in the state will continue to do their best to ensure that peace reigns during and after the Governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.
Adebowale, who was in company of other Heads of security agencies in the state, gave the assurance while on monitoring tour of some polling units and other areas in the state to ensure peaceful elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that some of the areas and polling units visited were, Oke-odo, Ile-Tuntun, Onipepeye in Iwo Road, Ogbere, Amuloko, Akanran, Idi-Ose in Ona-Ara Local Government area, Orita-Aperin, Elekuro, among others.
The police chief called on politicians to continue to maintain peace in the interest of all and sundry.
Adebowale advised the people not to create a situation where security agents would start running after suspected hoodlums and shooting at the law breakers.
“The process can be seamless for all of us and results declared without any violence, if we all play by the rules.
“You have campaigned for people to vote for you, so go and relax and wait for the results,” he said.
Williams assured the people of a peaceful atmosphere, saying that adequate security had been deployed for the election.
He urged the people to call on the security agents whenever they notice anything that could led to breakdown of law and orders. (NAN)
