Three men, Omotosho Aliu, 52; Oyelowo Akande, 56 and Taiwo Abayomi, 52, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged conspiracy.
The defendants, whose addresses are unknown, are facing a one-count charge of conspiracy.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendants and others at large, committed the offence on Nov. 21, at about 3:05 pm. in Oye-Ekiti.
He said that the defendants conspired among themselves to commit felony, to wit, armed robbery on United Bank of Africa (UBA), Oye-Ekiti branch.
Akinwale said that the defendants were arrested based on the information gathered by the police.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Their counsel, Mr Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant the defendants bail, promising that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Adesoji Adegboye, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000, with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case till Feb.12, 2020 for hearing.
