A spinal cord injury survivor and graphic artist has recounted how tuberculosis left him paralysed and forced him to abandon his childhood dream of becoming a pilot.
The artist said his health ordeal began in 2004 when he suddenly developed weakness while attempting to run and fell several times.
According to him, his family initially sought traditional treatment, but his condition persisted, prompting them to take him to a hospital for proper medical attention.
He said doctors later diagnosed him with tuberculosis, after which he became paralysed and lost the use of his legs.
The development, he explained, brought his ambition of becoming a pilot to an abrupt end, as he had to adjust to life with a spinal cord injury and rely on a wheelchair for mobility.
Despite the setback, the graphic artist said he refused to allow his condition to define his life.
He gradually developed skills in graphic design and has been able to build a career in the creative field.
He has also gotten married and maintained his independence despite living with the disability.
The artist said doctors had informed him that his condition could be treated, raising hopes that he might regain the use of his legs.
He is therefore appealing for financial assistance to enable him to access the recommended treatment and pursue the possibility of walking again.
