Ahead of the qualifiers for the African Women Championship (AWC), a former Nigerian international, Patrick Pascal has given the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) the thumbs up for approving the invitation of eight foreign based players to strengthen the Super Falcons.
Pascal, who is the Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria Football Federation, stated that the eight foreign based players would no doubt be good additions to the Falcons plans to win AWC in Namibia in October.
“I think it is a welcome development that the NFF gave Coach Edwin Okon the green light to invite eight foreign based players for the qualifier against Rwanda later this month.
“We cannot afford to toy with the chances of the Super Falcons’ qualification for the AWC and the World cup, so we must get all our best players to ensure that we beat Rwanda over two legs and bag ticket to AWC” stated the former Shooting Stars of Ibadan defender
“I have been watching all the friendly matches the team has played with boys,I have hope in this team and I believe they will go places” he stated.
Pascal told the Super Falcons media officer, Gracious Akujobi after the team’s training session yesterday that he believes Nigerian women senior team can go all the way to Namibia and bag a World Cup ticket.
He commended the rebuilding process embarked upon by Coach Edwin Okon adding it will bring out the best from the girls and make the fight for places in the Falcons more competitive.
The Bauchi born ex- footballer expressed the confidence that the Super Falcons would triumph over Rwanda and go ahead to qualify for the world cup in Canada noting that after Super Eagles, the Falcons is the next team that catches the eyes of Nigerians.
“What the Super Falcons need to do is to ensure that they beat Rwanda mercilessly to bring the fear factor and dominance in Africa. We just have to regain our lost glory by first winning the AWC and going ahead to do well at the world cup” he concluded.
