By Olusegun Lawrence                  The Senate on Tuesday adjourned plenary till Thursday when screening of ministerial nominees would resume.
Mr. Nelson Ayewoh, Clerk of the Senate in a terse press statement issued late in the evening announced that plenary would not hold on Wednesday.
However, he did not state the reason why the plenary was put on hold.
“This is to inform all distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the resumption of the senate in plenary has been rescheduled from Wednesday 21st October 2015, to Thursday 22nd October, 2015,” the statement reads.
But, political pundits believe the decision to suspend plenary was taken to enable Senators show solidarity with the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, who is billed to appear before the Code of Conduct Tribunal on Wednesday.
Mr. Saraki is facing a 13-count charge at the Tribunal bordering on false declaration of assets.
When he was docked few weeks ago, Mr. Saraki pleaded not guilty following which the trial was adjourned till October 21, 2015.
On Tuesday, only three ministerial nominees were screened.
Surprisingly, former Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Amaechi, who was earlier billed to be screened, was dropped from the Order Paper.
