Only intending pilgrims who are below the age of 65 will be allowed to perform the 2022 Hajj, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced.
The Kingdom also announced that one million pilgrims will take part in this year’s Hajj, a very significant increase compared to 60,000 pilgrims allowed in 2021 for only residents of the Kingdom.
A statement issued by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, says the Kingdom approved one million allocation to ensure that the maximum number of Muslims worldwide perform Hajj and visit the Prophet’s Mosque in a safe and spiritual atmosphere.
For intending pilgrims, mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations approved by the Saudi Ministry of Health is compulsory.
In addition, pilgrims coming from outside the Kingdom for the 2022 hajj are required to submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test result conducted within 72 hours prior to departure to the Kingdom.
