The police command in Kano State says it has begun a round-the-clock patrol and traffic control in Kano metropolis to ensure public safety
The Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo-Garba, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Kano on Thursday.
He said that the gesture was part of the command’s commitment to protecting the lives and property of Kano residents during the rainy season.
The police chief said that rainy seasons were associated with some security challenges, and that the command was ready to tackle them.
“I have addressed operational commanders and divisional police officers under the command on this new order.
“There are security challenges associated with rainy seasons. We must respond promptly to emergencies and distress calls.
“Our public relations unit will continue to educate the public on security tips for the rainy period, this will be done through our weekly enlightenment programmes,” he said.
Dogo-Garba urged members of the public to be more security conscious during the rainy season in the interest of their safety.
“Motorists are advised to avoid speeding, avoid traveling during heavy rains, ensure that your vehicles are well-serviced.
“We are open to intelligent reports from the public. We are partners in the project of ensuring adequate security in the state,” he said.( NAN).
