The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old man, Nicholas Nusa, over the alleged abduction and sexual abuse of five young girls in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
The command also arrested a 32-year-old man, Mohammed Manfred Abdulramah, for allegedly impersonating a military officer after he was found wearing military camouflage along the Auchi-Okene Expressway.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor.
Ikoedem said the arrests were among the command’s recent operations, which also led to the death of a suspected kidnapper, the arrest of several other suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle.
According to the statement, Abdulramah, who hails from Okene, Kogi State, was arrested on September 16, 2026, by personnel of the 195 Battalion, Agenebode, stationed at Okpella.
The suspect was reportedly travelling from Warri, Delta State, to Okene when he was intercepted and found wearing camouflage trousers and a vest.
Police said preliminary investigation showed that he was not a member of the military and had allegedly stolen the uniform from a naval officer based in Niger State.
On the alleged abuse of the girls, the police said it received information on September 12 concerning the abduction of five female children around the Ibillo-Imoga axis of Akoko-Edo.
Following police intervention, Nusa was arrested, while preliminary investigation allegedly revealed that the children had been sexually abused. Police further alleged that the suspect impregnated one of the victims, who later went into early labour and lost the baby following surgery.
The command said the five children had since been reunited with their families, adding that the suspect would be charged to court after the conclusion of investigation.
In another operation, police said operatives arrested Sunday Irabor at Efe Classic Crown Hotel, near Oluku Market, on September 8, following credible intelligence. Three mobile phones, a Samsung tablet, a wristwatch and some naira and dollar cash were reportedly recovered from him.
The command also said its Violent Crime Response Unit arrested a suspect, Isiaka Suleiman, in Warri, Delta State, over the alleged theft of a Toyota Camry with registration number BEN 572 BT. The vehicle was recovered and the suspect handed over to the VCRU for further investigation.
The police said the operations resulted in the arrest of 10 suspects for violent crimes within the period under review, while one suspected kidnapper was neutralised.
The Commissioner of Police said the operations demonstrated the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and the protection of lives and property across the state.
