President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday hosted President Boni Yayi of Republic of Benin, alongside former President Olusegun Obasanjo, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The three leaders attended church service at Aso Villa Chapel after which they visited the children’s church.
Thereafter, President Jonathan led his guests to his residence for lunch. As at press time, it could not be ascertained if Mr. Obasanjo’s visit was at the instance of the President.
We recall that former President Obasanjo was conspicuously absent at the special convention of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held at Eagles Square on Saturday to elect some national officers of the party.
A statement issued by Presidential Media Adviser, Reuben Abati, stated that President Jonathan, held bilateral talks with the visiting President Yayi and had lunch together.
“The talks between them focused on issues related to the strengthening of developmental cooperation between Nigeria and Benin Republic, including trade and economic relations.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo worshipped with President Jonathan and President Yayi at the Presidential Villa but did not participate in the talks between them,” Abati stated.
