The Coalition of 51 accredited observer organisations, under the aegis of Centre for Credible Leadership and Citizens Awareness, has recommended Ondo State Governorship election as a template for other elections in Nigeria.
This is as they said the recommendation was for Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other stakeholders.
The Convener of the Group, Mr Gabriel Nwambu, stated this on Tuesday in Akure during a Ondo State Governorship post-election news conference.
“With Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) performance in authentication and accreditation of electorates, and uploading of the result sheets on INEC portal, the election should be a model for every other election.
“The Ondo State Governorship election was conducted in line with the electoral acts 2022 and the 1999 constitution as amended.
“We, as 51 INEC accredited observer organisations, hereby unequivocally declare that this election was transparent, free, fair and credible.
“Importantly, we recorded no loss of life on election day, which reflects positively on the overall conduct of the election,” he said.
Also, An International Observer Group of INEC, Pan African Women Projects, said voting materials arrived at most polling units between 7 am and 8 am, with large voter turnout.
The Head of Mission of the project, Mrs Undensi Eno, commended INEC for conducting a credible and peaceful election in Nigeria.
According to Eno, INEC collated the results with so much professionalism and were also timely, as compared to other elections. (NAN).
