Gunmen dressed in black, reportedly numbering seven, have abducted Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, the President of the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), in Imo State.
Chilos Godsent, President of the Igbo National Council (INC), confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday, February 9, 2025.
He stated that Igboayaka was taken on Saturday evening, February 8, 2025, from Works Layout in Owerri.
Eyewitnesses reported that the attackers arrived in a Sienna and a Lexus SUV, seizing Igboayaka around 7 p.m. before speeding off to an undisclosed location.
His family has since been in distress over his disappearance.
Godsent has called on the Imo State Police Command to take immediate action to locate and rescue Igboayaka while ensuring those responsible face justice.
“The Igbo National Council (INC) urges the Nigeria Police Force in Imo State to investigate this abduction and make their findings known to the public,” his statement read.
At the time of filing this report, the Imo State Police Command has not yet issued an official response regarding the situation.
