Kano Pillars FC on Wednesday beat visiting Akwa United FC of Uyo 1-0 in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match day 12 game in Kano.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match was watched by enthusiastic fans at the 16,000-capacity Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar-Mata, Kano.
The home team took advantage of the massive home support and dominated most parts of the encounter, but fell short of converting several scoring chances.
Mustafa Umar scored the only goal of the encounter in the 6th minute when he slotted home a low cross from Babawo Muhammad, attracting cheers of the fanatical crowd.
After the game, both Coaches Fatai Osho and Abdu Maikaba, expressed satisfaction with their players’ performance throughout the encounter.
He said the victory would boost his team’s morale towards making great impact in the league.
Maikaba added that their away win against Gombe United FC would boost their morale to beat Doma United in Gombe on Sunday.
On his part, Mr Osho described the match as difficult.
“The match has been won and lost no doubt. Actually the home team played very well and denied us the needed away victory.
“But we are going back to the drawing board to prepare for the remaining league matches,” he explained.
Osho also commended his team for their efforts and fighting spirit.
The coach also lauded Kano Pillars fans and supporters for always coming out in numbers to support their darling team.
