The Minister of Petroleum Resources, Deizani Alison-Madueke has dismissed media reports that a couple of the indicted companies have again been awarded contract by the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Authority (PPPRA) to lift fuel.
Speaking with State House correspondents Thursday, the Minister insisted none of the firms indicted by the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee that probed fuel subsidy regime is lifting fuel now.
She said all the companies currently licensed to import fuel emerged successful following thoroughly screening.
The Minister said, “That is not possible. I believe you are referring to the listing of companies by the PPPRA for importation of fuel. All companies were vetted carefully and only companies that were clearly cleared were put on the list”.
Mrs. Alison-Madueke also spoke about the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) presently before the National; Assembly, expressing satisfaction with the progress being made, saying it is in tandem with the expectations of the executive on the passage of the Bill.
“There will be different views. There will always be different stakeholders whose views are brought to bear when there is a document of such critical importance and once it enters the purview of the legislature it is expected that different views will be heard and at the end of the day the expectation is that the document that comes out will represent a fairly win situation for all stakeholders for the betterment and for the good of the entire economy and the entire polity.
“The National Assembly is making progress on the bill, they have started public hearing and I think it is moving along in the manner that we expect it to move,” she said.
