West African neighbours, Nigeria and Benin Republic have jointly filed an application to co-host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Prompt News reports.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) stripped Guinea of the hosting rights in the summer due to lack of funds and standard facilities.
According to a report in GHANAsoccernet.com, Nigeria and Benin Republic have submitted bid to co-host the biennial competition.
It would be recalled that Nigeria co-hosted the 2000 AFCON finals with Ghana.
Algeria, South Africa, Senegal and Zambia are also interested in hosting the tournament.
CAF will inspect the facilities of all the interested countries between January 5 and 25.
The soccer body will then announce the host country or countries on February 10, 2023.
