By Gracious Akujobi The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Thursday in Abuja conducted test for no fewer than 40 candidates who took part in the FIFA players’ Agent examination.
Assistant Director (Communications) of NFF, Ademola Olajire told Prompt News that the current licensing system would be dropped as from this year’s summer.
He said the examination would be the last of such as this is a directive from the world football governing body FIFA on the matter.
The supervisor of the examination and NFF’s Legal Officer, Okey Obi also said successful candidates would help discover more talented footballers for the country.
“What we intend to achieve by this examination is to license the successful candidates who we envisage will help to discover and guide raw talents from the grassroots”
Continuing, Obi said there were some conditions the would-be candidates must meet to be able to fully become licensed.
“The candidate must not have connection with a club, academy, football association like the NFF, State or local government football associations, CAF or FIFA. The candidate will not hold any position in these bodies.
“Coaches, referees and the likes of them will not get licensed because they are directly connected,” Obi concluded.
The candidates said they were delighted to be taking the test as they have promised to do their best to make sure players don’t get enslaved in their contracts.
They however, urged the players to always understand any document placed before them before signing as well as verifying from the FIFA website to identify who approaches them for contract talks.
