He said the youths would be exposed to Solar Photovoltaic System Installation and entrepreneurial skills to enable to become self-reliant as well as address problems associated with shortage of power supply.
Baba-manu expressed optimism that the participants would get the best out of the exercise from skilled resource persons expected to give the best to the prospective technicians and entrepreneurs.
“With the way things are going in the region and the country, frequent power failure will be a thing of the past because solar is the answer,” he said.
He, therefore, urged the participants to avail themselves the opportunity and learn the skills to become self-reliant rather than waiting for white collar jobs.
“Count yourself lucky because you have been selected to be among the beneficiaries of the training programme.
“You are expected to reciprocate the gesture by being punctual so that you will learn all the stages,” he said.
Babu-Manu said the participants would be provided with starter packs, adding that the Commission has set up a monitoring team to monitor the youths at the end of the exercise.
The Managing Director of the NEDC, Mohammed Alkali, urged the participants to utilise the opportunity given to them by the commission.
Represented by Ahmed Matori, the Manager, Humanitarian Department in the commission, Alkali warned against diversion of the starter packs.
