The National Director of Employment (NDE) has commenced the training of 20 unemployed youths on environmental beautification in Nasarawa.
The gesture is to make them self-reliant and contribute positively to the development of the country.
Mr Fagbemi Joshua, the State NDE Coordinator, made this known during the orientation of the 20 trainees of ‘Environmental Beautification Training Scheme (EBTS)’ on Thursday in Lafia.
Joshua said that one of the core mandates of the NDE was job creation through skills acquisition, hence the need for the training
“The beneficiaries will be incentivised by providing them with a monthly stipend of N5,000 during the three-month training period, while N5,000 monthly training fee per participant shall be paid to their trainers.
“Competent environmental beautification trainers that understand the challenges were carefully selected and engaged in the training exercise to ensure you get the best skills,” he said.
Joshua urged the participants to be disciplined and committed, saying that absenteeism from training without cogent reasons would not be tolerated.
He called on individuals, NGOs, government at all levels and international agencies to collaborate with the NDE to reduce unemployment in the state and the country at large.
The coordinator commended the Minister of Labour and Employment and NDE Supervising Minister, Mrs Nkiruka Onyejeocha, for her commitment and support to the directorate.
“It is my honour to express my profound appreciation to the Minister for her immense encouragement and policy guidance to NDE towards achieving the mandate of massive job creation for Nigerians,” he said.
The coordinator also appreciated the NDE Director-General, Mallam Nuhu-Fikpo, for always considering Nasarawa in programmes’ implementations.
He also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule, for creating the enabling environment for the directorate to actualize its vision of “Jobs for All”, in Nasarawa communities.
Speaking, Mr Chris Osama, Deputy Director, Nasarawa Ministry for Works and Mrs Bilkisu Abdullahi-Adamu, Director, Entrepreneurship, State Vocational and Relevant Technology Board, urged the beneficiaries to take their training seriously.
