The director of planning, monitoring and information in the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Peter Nelson has described the wrong information dishing out to the by the detractors over the crisis rocking the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF.as an attempt to paint the Sports Ministry black before the General public.
Nelson in a chat with Prompt News Online in Abuja, said the secretariat of NBBF is totally in charge of organising the ongoing Super 8 and everything relating to Basketball in Nigeria since the tenure of the Kida-led board has expired while ministry is giving the federation the needed support to keep the federation running pending the election of the new board.
Well, there are a lot of lies being circulated in the air. They misinformed FIBA about the Super 8, we have a capable secretariat that is being run by the secretary, Afolabi-Oluwayemi Olabisi and she is in charge of everything and if there is any need of support from the ministry, we are ready to provide but so far she has been doing a wonderful job.
‘So, going out to tell FIBA something else would not benefit anybody but disrupt the flow of the game and the ministry would not take it lying low because I can’t imagine people wanting the game to stop because things are not going their way.
“The ministry is wiser now and nobody can take us on a wild goose chase pending when the election will be held, the secretary takes charge of the activities of the federation and the World Cup qualifiers with support coming from the ministry “, said Nelson.
