Mr Bartholomew Aguegbodo, the Chairman of the branch, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lagos.
He said that the lecture would form part of a series of activities of the NBA, Ikeja, Law Week, 2021.
According to him, the branch came up with the initiative in a bid to avoid a repeat of the hardship faced by litigation lawyers during the 64-day nationwide strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria.
He said the NBA, Ikeja, Law Week with the theme: “The Nigeria of Our Dreams”, would run from July 9 to July 16.
“We noted the challenges litigation lawyers faced during the JUSUN strike, and this will be addressed.
“On the third day of the law week, Mr Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) will have an elaborate session on how to make alternative sources of income from a vibrant practice.
“The lecture by Mr Pinheiro will be entitled ‘Success in Legal Practice: Who Moved My Cheese?’
“It will hold from 1.00pm to 4.00pm on July 13, at the Bar Center which is beside the Ikeja High Court, Ikeja,” he said.
Throwing more light on the reason for the Law Week’s theme, Aguegbodo said that the NBA had noted agitations by people who felt that Nigeria at the moment, was not the Nigeria of their dreams.
“After the discussions, we can aggregate the various opinions and probably have a communique on what the position of the NBA is,” he said.
NAN reports that topics of other lectures that will form part of the law week include: “The Nigerian State and the Call for Restructuring” and “Governance As a Call to Service”.
There will also be lectures on; “The Judiciary and the Bar: The Need to Constantly Work Together” and “Legal Practice Outside the Courtroom: The Experience”. (NAN)
