Godwin Kingsley, Lafia Nasarawa state government has earmarked the sum of N40 million for the training of over 1,400 youths on skills acquisition.
Adogi, a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura made this known while speaking to newsmen on Monday at the training camp of the beneficiaries in Keffi.
He explained that the participants were drawn from across the 13 local government areas of the state.
The SSA added that the participants would be trained as Sanitary Inspectors, Traffic marshals and Community watchers.
Adogi also said the training was part of the government commitment to creating 4,500 jobs aimed at ameliorating the plight of the massive unemployed youth and curb restiveness in the state.
The Senior Aide also said that after the two weeks intensive training, the Traffic marshals would be deployed to Lafia, Akwanga, Karu, Keffi and Nasarawa local government to assist the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to ease traffic congestions.
He said the Sanitary Inspectors would be assigned to work with the state Urban Development Board (NUDB) to ensure effective environmental sanitation.
Adogi, further noted that in view of the insecurity and incessant communal clashed in the state, some of the trainees would be deployed as Community Watchers to their various localities to complement government efforts at checking the menace through intelligence gathering.
He said each of the trainee would be paid a monthly stipend of N10, 000 adding that all the trainee must meet the requirement for engagement into the scheme.
“I would like to emphasise that the areas of focus under this scheme requires physical strength and agility. So, expectant or nursing mothers would not be accepted,” Adogi added.
He also revealed that a committee has been put in place to work out modalities for the absorption of the trainees into the state civil service in due course.
