Nasarawa Assembly passes mortgage bill into law

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Tuesday, passed into law a Bill for a Law to establish the Nasarawa State Mortgage Board to Regulate Mortgages, Foreclosure and Enforcement in Real Property and for Connected Purposes.

Speaker of the house, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, announced  the passage of the bill into law during the house proceeding in Lafia.

Hon Tanko Tunga, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the passage of the bill into law and was seconded by Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House.

According to Balarabe Abdullahi, the  bill which scaled its third reading today will guarantee safety of mortgages.

”The  law will guaranteed safety of Mortgages, regulate all Mortgages, for foreclosure and enforcement in real properties,” he said.

The speaker directed the clerk to the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for the governor’s assent.
