The Nasarawa State Geographic Information Service (NAGIS) says it has generated N771million from January to October, 2020 despite the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
Director-General of NAGIS, Sonny Agassi made this disclosure when the Agency appeared before the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Lands and Survey during assessment of the agency’s 2020 budget.
According to Agassi, the revenue generation agency has already mapped out more strategy to generate more revenue to the coffer of the state.
He said that the agency is mandated by the law establishing it to process grants of statutory rights of occupancy, issue Certificate of Occupancy (C-of-O) among others.
“I want to disclose to you that despite the outbreak of COVID-19, the agency has generated N771 million from January to date,” he said.
Agassi appreciated the committee for supporting the activities of the agency while restating the agency’s determination to continue to initiate more policies in order to generate more revenue for the government.
Responding, Hon David Maiyaki, Chairman, House Committee on Lands and member representing Karu-Gitta constituency said that the committee has invited the agency in order to assess the agency’s 2020 budget performance.
Maiyaki advised the agency to always adhere strictly to budgetary provisions.
The chairman commended the DG, and his management team for generating more revenue and called for its sustenance.
