Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen has been released by Serie A champions, Napoli for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Partenopei will host Monza in a league clash at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium on Friday (today).
Osimhen is suspended for the game after picking up a red card in Napoli’s 2-0 defeat to Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma last week.
Napoli wrote “At the end of today’s [Thursday] training, Osimhen obtained a day’s leave so he could join his family before leaving for the national team’s training camp.
“We remind you that the former Lille player is disqualified in the championship and would missed the match against Monza.”
The 25-year-old is expected to be included in Nigeria’s squad for the 2023 AFCON finals. READ ALSO:

The Super Eagles are in Group A with Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea.
Jose Peseiro’s side will take on Equatorial Guinea in their first game at the Alssanne Quattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan on Sunday, January 14.
