Barley three weeks after the erstwhile Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah was sacked, the widely publicized two BMW armoured cars purchased at a grossly inflated price of N255 million has claimed yet other victims in the aviation sector.
On Tuesday, President Goodluck Jonathan approved the re-organisation of the aviation ministry and ordered immediate sack of five Chief Executive Officers of Agencies under the Ministry of Aviation.
Those sent packing are the Managing Director of the Federal airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), George Uriesi; Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Fola Akinkuotu; Managing Director of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nnamdi Udoh; Rector of Nigerian College of aviation Technology (NCAT), Mrs. Chinyere Kalu and Commissioner, Accident Investigation and Prevention Bureau (AIPB), Mukhtar Usman.
According to a statement by Sam Nwaobasi, Special Assistant to the secretary to the Goverenmnet of the Federation, anyim Pius Anyim, President Jonathan has also approved the appointment of successors to the sacked CEOs.
They are: Saleh Dumona (Director Projects, FAAN) as new FAAN MD; Ibrahim Abdulsalam (General Manager, Procurements) as NAMA MD; Samuel Akinyele Caulcrick (Government Safety Inspector & ICAO Focal Point for Nigeria on line Aircraft Safety Information Systems, OASIS) as Rector NCAT; Benedict Adeyileka is to act as DG, NCAA pending the confirmation by the Senate; Felix A. Abali (Director Licencing, NCAA) as Commissioner, Accident Investigation and Prevention Bureau (AIPB).
Meanwhile, Dr. Tony Anuforo retains his position as Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMMET).
Prompt News recalls that the House of Representatives committee that investigated the scandal had recommended the sack of the then minister, Stella Oduah and other top officials fingered in the scandal.
