This is really not the best of time for Chief Rochas Anayo Okorocha as a Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded the former Imo State Governor, in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) pending the determination of his bail application.
The presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo gave the remand order on Monday when the anti-graft agency arraigned him days after they carted him away forcefully from his Abuja residence on the charge that he evaded summon.
Okorocha, an All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential hopeful is facing trial over alleged N2.9bn fraud case.
Okorocha, one Ms. Chinenye and five companies were arraigned on 17 counts of money laundering filed by the EFCC.
Ekwo adjourned the case till Tuesday for the hearing of the bail applications by Okorocha and Chinenye’s lawyers.
