A 34-year-old mechanic, Kanu Stephen, on Thursday, appeared before a Grade I Area Court in Dei-Dei, Abuja, for allegedly disappearing with a customer’s vehicle for six days.
The police charged the defendant, of Zuba Spare Parts Market, with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, said that on Dec. 28, 2023, one Abdul Akpo, of Anagada, entrusted his vehicle to the defendant to repair its clutch plate.
He said that the mechanic thereafter disappeared with the vehicle to an unknown destination for six days, while he also switched his cell phone.
According to him, the six days that the defendant spent was valued at N300,000.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him by the police. READ ALSO:

The Judge, Saminu Suleiman, admitted the defendant to N300, 000 bail, with one surety in like sum.
Suleiman said that the surety must have a fixed address and reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
He adjourned the matter till Jan. 30 for hearing. (NAN)
