President of the Senate, David Mark On Wednesday sent a message of felicitation to Muslims across the country as they join their counterparts the world over to celebrate this year’s Eid-el Fitri.
Mark in a good will message to Muslims faithful commended them for their steadfastness and prayers especially during the fasting period for the sustenance of peace and unity in the country.
The president of the senate for the umpteenth time called for harmonious relationship and mutual coexistence between and among different and ethnic groups in the country.
He said; “the Almighty God did not make mistake by putting different ethnics and religious groups together to form a one united nation call Nigeria, It is therefore incumbent on all of us to work towards the peace and unity that would engendered progress in the country.
“We have come a long way as a people binded by common destiny; we can do better by being our brothers’ keeper at all times and making our society a better place for all.
“All hands must therefore be on deck to stop these ugly trends of violence and crisis of various degrees that have tended to tear our nation apart.”
Senator Mark pleaded with Nigerians to join hands with government in the implementation of its policies and programs pointing out that development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace and cooperation.
He restated the resolve of the national assembly to continue to lay a solid legislative framework needed for the smooth delivery of the dividends of democracy adding “We shall do our parts without hesitation to ensure that nothing hinders the implementation of government policies and programs especially the appropriation Acts.”
Mark reminded the ministries, departments and agencies of government to do the needful in the implementation of budgets because the national assembly would no longer tolerate fail implementations.
