A Shari’a Court in Kano State on Friday, sentenced a man, Muhammad Yahaya to 16 months imprisonment and 20 strokes of cane for stealing a motorcycle.
Yahaya, who lives in Dorayi Quarters Kano, was convicted of criminal conspiracy, trespass and theft.
The Judge, Malam Nura Yusuf-Ahmad, ordered Yahaya to pay a fine of N30,000 for conspiracy.
He also ordered the convict to pay N10,000 fine for theft.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Aliyu Abideen, told the court that one Yusuf Abdullahi, who lives in Sani Mainagge Quarters Kano, reported the matter at the Dorayi Babba Police Division Kano on Feb.3.
He said the convict and one Ibrahim Hassan, at large, used a master key and stole the complainant’s red Bajaj motorcycle parked at Bayero University Kano old campus. READ ALSO:

He said the convict was arrested while trying to escape with the motorcycle.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.
Abideen said that the offence contravened the provisions of section 120, 216 and 133 of Kano State Sharia Penal Code. (NAN)
