It is a new dawn in Abia state as Dr. Alexander Otti of the Labour Party (LP) has been Sworn-in as the new governor replacing Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
It is the first time in 24 years the governor of Abia state did not come from the PDP which has been in power since 1999 when former governor Chief Orji Uzor Kalu took over from the military administrator.
After eight years in the saddle, Chief Theodore Orji of All Progressivs Grand Alliance (APGA) who later decamped to PDP ruled for another eight years before handing over to Ikpeazu who has now handed over to LP’s Otti at a ceremony at Umuahia Township Stadium.
Governor Otti inspected the traditional Guard of Honour shortly after the Swearing- in.
