Mrs. Funmilayo Arowoogun, National President, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA) Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW), on Wednesday, urged women to leverage technology and innovation in service delivery.
Arowoogun stated this at a news conference, organised by the group over its forthcoming ‘NNEW 2021 Annual Summit’, scheduled for Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the summit, which is the 8th edition, with the theme: “Commitment to Excellence,” will hold from Nov. 2 to Nov. 3.
Arowogun said that the last edition of the summit coincided with the 15th anniversary of NNEW, with the theme: “Moving to Mastery”.
According to her, the objective of this year’s summit is to equip women with the right kind of information that will prepare and empower them to take specific steps toward planning their future.
“This summit will help participants to come up with what it takes to have the will to have the desire to succeed and the urge to reach their full potentials.
“We must always remember that in tough and trying times, what can help us to think and create better and put us ahead of challenges is information.
“So, NNEW has sought out seasoned entrepreneurs as speakers and they will deliver lectures along this theme in such impactful ways that will help us to prepare for every aspect of our lives,” she said.
Also speaking, Chairperson, Summit 2021 Planning Committee, Mrs. Bukky Adeyemi, said that the summit was open to all and not just members of the group, noting that participants would gain a lot from it.
Adeyemi also said that NNEW had been mentoring budding generations of start-ups to become successful businesswomen.
According to her, there will be different speakers at the summit to talk on how to attain financial ease and guide them on how to write business proposals and have access to loans.
Adeyemi said that notable Nigerians would be available at the summit to share their experiences on how they were able to navigate the challenges that came with the COVID-19 period.
“We are going to have women who will share their life experiences on what they had gone through. They will tell us what they did to attain the position they are now – which is excellence in their businesses.
“So, we are encouraging every member to come and attend; don’t just come, invite a friend to come, learn and take home from there,” she said.
NAN reports that NNEW was established in 2005, under the aegis of Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, to promote and nurture entrepreneurship amongst women.
It is also a forum for women entrepreneurs to focus on issues that are crucial to the success of their businesses.
The group also aims to empower the businesses of female entrepreneurs, using what was learnt from the experiences of other successful entrepreneurs.
It seeks to effectively influence and apply government business policies, while getting exposure to various venture capital and investment opportunities. (NAN)
