The Lagos State Government says the development of its Fashion Hub and Academy at Gberigbe in Ikorodu will begin this year.

Mrs Lola Akande, Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperatives, made this known on Thursday at a Ministerial Press Briefing to commemorate the One-Year in Office of Governor Sanwo-Olu led administration.

Akande said that the hub, which would be established on a 10-hectare land, would be a well-equipped centre where everything that had to do with fashion would be available.

According to her, the academy will be responsible for training the youth in fashion and it will be of world-class standard.

”Infrastructure such as road network, drainage, walkway, street light, including dedicated areas for truck and car parks, will be provided by the state government,” she said.

The commissioner said that the hub would add value to the fashion sector and assist to further upscale the skills of the old and new fashion designers.

Akande said that it would also create wealth opportunities directly and indirectly and create a cluster that would be a source of revenue for the individuals and the state.

The commissioner said that the ministry had synergized with the Organised Private Sector in the state through various Public-Private Engagement Programmes (PPEP).

She said that such interactions and engagements had engendered an improved business environment, which had in no small way sustained the confidence of business owners in the state.
