Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a definite date for tertiary institutions in the state to reopen for academic activities.
The governor at a media briefing at the Lagos House in Marina, said tertiary institutions should reopen on September 14, 2020.
Also, he announced September 21, 2020, as the tentative resumption date for primary and secondary schools.
Sanwo-Olu said the decision to re-open the schools was carefully thought through, given the decline in the number of positive cases and the progress recorded in the State’s response. He asked the management of the schools to ensure adherence to the safety guidelines as they re-open their campuses for activities.
Already, students in the exit classes – JSS3 and SSS3 are writing junior exams and WASSCE respectively.
Prompt News reports that schools nationwide have been shut since March this year as part of measures to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus codenamed ‘COVID-19’.
