Kwara Government has set up a nine-man committee to investigate alleged illegal water connections.
The committee headed by the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Usman Yunusa-Lade, is also to review revenue generation of the state water corporation.
The commissioner said on Friday in Ilorin at the inauguration of the committee that it must discharge its assignment with fear of God.
The other members of the committee include Mrs Elizabeth Afolabi, Secretary; Mr Yusuf Wopa, Mr Alao Saidu, Mr Saidu Abdulfatai and Mr Abdullah Saka.
The others are Mr Adeniran Olanrewaju from Kwara Inland Revenue Service, and two officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
According to the commissioner, ending illegal water connection and improving revenue generation of the state water corporation were important.
He said that the state government had invested huge amounts of money in portable water supply.
He said that a large number of boreholes and waterworks had been sunk, rehabilitated or newly constructed across the three senatotial districts of the state.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs Christiana Asonibare, urged the committee members to work as a team to achieve the aim.
The Acting General Manager of the water corporation, Mrs Raliat Abdulhameed, applauded the commissioner for efforts to move the corporation forward. (NAN). READ ALSO:
