Kano State Government has inaugurated a steering committee for the Sustainable Drugs Supply System Scheme (SDSSC), the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
The state Ministry of Health in a statement by its Public Relations Officer Mrs Hadiza Namadi, on Sunday, said that the committee was mandated to provide policies for the programme.
The committee, to be chaired by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminu Tsanyawa, is also responsible for receiving the monthly reports and conducting oversight functions of the scheme.
The committee would also meet quarterly, to review the reports of SDSSC, thus providing necessary support for the smooth running of the scheme.
It would further, ensure annual audit of the scheme, as well as receive and review report from state Maternal and Child Health Steering Committee.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the committee has the Permanent Secretary of the health ministry; Director, Drugs Medical Consumable Supply Agency; Director-General, Hospital Management Board and Director-General, Kano State Agency for the Control of Aids as members.
Other members are the Executive-Secretary, State Primary Health Care Management Board and Executive Secretary, Kano State Contributory Health Care Management Agency.
Also in the committee were the Executive-Secretary, Private Health Institution Management Agency; Executive-Secretary, Health Trust Fund and Director of Pharmaceutical Services of the ministry, who would serve as secretary.
