The Police Command in Anambra has confirmed the arrest of one Matthew Nwankwo, a suspected kidnap gang leader seven years after he was declared wanted.
Nwankwo had been on the run since 2015 when his house in Umuobindo village, Nteje in Oyi Local Government Area was demolished by the Anambra government after it was bursted as a kidnappers’ den.
The suspect was arrested by the police in the early hours of Tuesday following a tip off and was being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department.
DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer of the command confirmed arrest of the suspect.
“The suspect is in custody, further development shall be communicated please,” he said.(NAN)
