Expectedly, Kenyan runner, Shadrack Ngumbau has to put up a strong effort especially in the final home stretch to beat co-competitors to win the maiden Premium Trust Bank Abuja City International Half Marathon in the time of 1.07.58 to also cart home the prize money of USD5,000 on the offer.
This is as his closest rival on the day, Nigeria’s Francis James finished second in the time of 1.08.03 to go home with the double prize money of USD3,000 and N1 million.
Also, another Kenyan, Raticm Kenneth came 3rd in the time of 1.08.55 and a cash prize of USD2,000
Gyang Emmanuel of Nigeria came 4th in the time of 1.10.52 and cash prize of USD1,000 while the Adamu Shehu from Cameroon finished in the 5th place with the time of 1.11.08 and cash prize of USD700.
In the women’s International category, South Sudanese Gaspora Atalanta got to the Finish Line at Old Parade Ground, Garki in the time of 1.20.23 while Kenya’s
Toofrida Lodefa1came in second in thetimeof 1.21.37 just as another Kenyan Rotto Nancy Jebat came third in the time of 1.24.58.
Three Nigerians Patience Daylop (1.24.51); Yilmune Nicholas (1.29.11) and Elizabeth Nuhu (1.29.16) finished in the 4th, 5th and 6th positions respectively. They were rewarded with prize money in dollars too.
Meanwhile, in the Nigerian Runners Category, Francis James who came second in international category male with 1.08.03 was declared winner as he also got N1 million as stated earlier. In 2nd place was Gyang Emmanuel James (1.09.05) and cash reward of N750,000 and 3rd was Adamu Shehu (1.10.57) and N500,000.
In 4th place wa Emmanuel Gyang (1.11.14) and N300,000; 5th was James Gyang (1.12.19) and N200,000 and 6th was Emmanuel Duuh (1.12.46) and N100,000.
In the women’s category.
Patience Daylop with the time of 1.24.51 came 1st;
2nd was Vilmuner Nicholas (1.27.11); 3rd Elizabeth Nuhu (1.27.88);
4th Agoture Charity (1.27.89); 5th Shambor Blessing (1.29.29) and
6th Grace Goan (1.29.33).
