The management of Katsina United FC has debunked a media report that its players and officials had molested Kwara United players after Sunday’s NPFL match held in Katsina.
A statement issued by the club’s Media Officer, Nasir Gide, on Tuesday in Katsina, dismissed the report as false.
“The truth of the matter is that one of the officials of Kwara United is owing a Katsina United’s player about N110,000, for the past two years.
“The player used the opportunity and reported him to the security agents immediately after the match.
“That was what happened, but no officials or players were kept hostage after the match,” he said.
Gide explained that the matter was resolved after the Kwara United official transferred the money he owed to the player’s account.
“After the money was transferred into the creditor’s account, the official and players left the stadium.
“Please disregard anything contrary to this, there is nothing like molestation or keeping anybody hostage,” he said.
The media officer also said that a fan who attempted to attack the referees, after the match, was instantly arrested by security agents.
“They are now investigating the matter before charging him to court.”
