The Katsina State Internal Revenue Service (KIRS) says it has commenced a state-wide enforcement of vehicle documents’ validity.
The KIRS Board’s Director, Revenue Collection, Alhaji Rabi’u Adamu, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.
He said that the exercise was part of the strategic measures put in place to secure the lives and property of residents of the state.
Adamu said that officials of the service, Federal Road Safety Corps, Vehicle Inspection Officers and other security agencies, would be on the road to ensure motorists possessed valid vehicle and driving documents.
He, therefore, advised motorists with expired licences and documents to visit any revenue office close to them to re-validate their documents to avoid embarrassment.
He said that motorists were expected to possess valid licences, valid number plates and certificate of road worthiness, among others.
Also speaking, the Director Personnel Income Tax, Alhaji Ibrahim Mamman, said the exercise would also assist to ensure security of lives and property of people in the state.
He further said that the enforcement team would impound vehicles for non compliance.
“The exercise is going smoothly and is yielding positive results in all the local government areas,” Mamman said.
Meanwhile, some motorists have expressed the hope that the strict enforcement of compliance would help to minimise vehicle theft in the state. (NAN). READ ALSO:
