Katsina State House of Assembly has called on the state government to construct the road linking Bindawa, Mani, Rimi and Mashi Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state.
The call followed a joint motion presented during the plenary on Tuesday by Alhaji Umar Ali, the lawmaker representing Bindawa State Constituency on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the plenary was presided over by the Speaker, Alhaji Tasi’u Maigari.
According to him, the road with about 40 kilometres length passed through the four LGAs and it is in serious need of government attention.
“We inherited the current situation of the road from the previous administrations and it is going to be a slap on our face to go without completing it.
“Therefore, we are reminding the executive arm of the government to construct the road which starts from Eka-sabon Gari-shifdawa-Baure-Dora-Yan Gora, all across the four LGAs.
“We earlier presented this motion before this house in 2019, because the previous administration had started the work from Dan gamji-Eka.
“Hence, we are still calling on the present administration to assist us and complete the road from Eka-Yan Gora to ease the difficulties faced by the people of these areas.
“The completion of this road is important not only to the people of these affected areas, but to the entire state, because it will bring a lot of development to the state,” he said.
After series of deliberations by the lawmakers, the assembly adopted the motion and ordered the clerk to write a reminder to the government.
Similarly, the house also reminded the government of the construction of another road linking seven communities in Charanchi LGA of the state.
This followed a motion of reminder presented by Alhaji Lawal Isa-Kuraye, the member representing Charanchi State Constituency on the platform of APC.
According to him, the affected communities include: Yana-Bagga-Ganuwa-Tsakatsa-Majen Wayya junction-Radda
The house also adopted the motion and called on the state government to intervene on the issue. (NAN)
