Kano state Government on Tuesday expressed its determination to address the lingering shortage of potable water in parts of Kano metropolitan.
The commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Sulaiman Riruwai, said this during a visit to Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant in Dawakin Kudu local government area.
He said the state government had concluded arrangements to partner with foreign agencies to turn around the water works in the state.
He said the government had rolled out a five-year plan for the development of the water sector, adding that very soon a water Law will be enacted to pave way for the transformation of water supply in the state
The Commissioner, represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Hajiya Bilkisu Waziri, expressed delight over the capacity at which the treatment plant was working.
She commended the company supplying the treatment plant with aluminium sulphate for steady supply, which according to her, had kept the plant working at a high capacity.
She assured that the state government would not relent on its effort to provide potable drinking water to the people.
